Some paintings are looked at. Others look back at you. That is what devotees say when they first stand in front of the Blessing Eyes.
The artwork began as an original painting by Shirdi artist Hemant Wani, whose Sai Baba paintings have been shown in art galleries in Delhi and Mumbai, including a major exhibition at the Bandra Kurla Complex. The painting is titled 'Eyes of Lord Sai Baba'. The Globe and Mail
For Hemant, Shirdi was never just a place of work. He was born on a Thursday, 21 January 1982, in Shirdi, and both his parents were devoted to Baba and worked with the Saibaba Sansthan. Thursday is Baba's day, and many devotees see that as more than a coincidence. IndiaMART
Why just the eyes? In darshan, the moment that stays with most devotees is Baba's gaze: calm, patient and knowing. Hemant set out to paint only that moment, without the rest of the portrait, so that nothing pulls attention away from it. The result feels less like a picture and more like being seen.
Where to place it. Most families keep the Blessing Eyes at eye level near the home temple, in the living room facing the entrance, or in a study or office where they want a reminder of Shraddha and Saburi through the day.
